Dallas won despite Westbrook recording his 12th triple-double of the season with 38 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists. The Thunder had been 11-3 in December before consecutive home losses to Milwaukee and Dallas to end the month.
Paul George scored 25 points and Carmelo Anthony had 21 for Oklahoma City, combining to go 8 of 14 from 3-point range. Despite their hot shooting, Westbrook took the big shots late for OKC and missed a trio of 3-pointers in the final 30 seconds. He was 0 for 4 from deep for the game and was mostly curt with reporters afterward.
“We just didn’t get the stops we needed to,” he said.
Consecutive 3-pointers by Smith — the second one banked in — put the Mavericks up 111-108 with 1:17 left. Smith hit a driving layup with 30.4 seconds left to give Dallas a 113-110 lead, then rebounded a 3-point miss by Westbrook at the other end and made two free throws with 15.8 seconds left.
“I just saw an open shot and I took it, so I was like with the next one, I’m going to take it as well and they started to fall,” Smith said. “It might have been around the five-minute mark or somewhere around there that I realized it was time for me to get it going.”
“I thought we stayed in it and we gave ourselves a chance at the end, but throughout the game I did not like our energy level,” he said. “We were slow to the ball. … The lineup at the end, they got into it, and we were a little bit better defensively, and as a result we gave ourselves into it.”
“That’s a tough loss,” Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. “To have a lead and not make enough plays on both ends of the court, I think we’ll learn from it. … There are lots of mental mistakes from all of us. We all can get better.”
I’ve gotten more comfortable comic book skin. And he plays the highest scoring position on the team.Duffy slashed just .276 .355 21 with Tampa Bay before the organization elected for surgery on his troublesome left Achilles, forcing him to miss the rest of the 2016 .His #4 was retired, making him the first player ever to be honored. Those numbers indicate Crosby carves up the Sabres defenders.People were probably excited to him.Raaymakers made just a pair of saves on five shots. He was a power hitter who struck out at lot and hit .250 at Fairview High Dayton, Ohio. It’s quite another to have done it-and done it well.
Womens Zach Parise Jersey Stafford threw a go-ahead, 54-yard pass to Kenny Golladay. After Green Bay’s Donatello Brown allowed a punt to hit him, the Lions recovered to set up Stafford’s 3-yard pass to Marvin Jones to put Detroit up 17-3. Stafford threw a 71-yard TD pass to Golden Tate late in the third, giving the Lions a 27-3 lead.
Hundley was 14 of 24 for 172 yards with two interceptions and a fumble. He was replaced by Joe Callahan late in the game.
Joe Berger, who switched from right guard to center with Pat Elflein shelved for a shoulder injury for the second time in four weeks, was the only original starter to play in all 16 games. Mike Remmers moved from right tackle into Berger’s spot. Jeremiah Sirles started at left guard for Nick Easton, who will miss the playoffs because of a broken ankle.
Yeah, it’s probably been my toughest year of football, I would say, Manning said. Obviously with the losses, with the injuries, with a benching and coming back and uncertainty and everything going on. But really, the losses more than anything probably. It’s tough, it’s tough to prepare every week and to put all the effort into it and to not get the outcomes you want. Especially some heartbreakers that we lost early on in the season and then we kind of started losing some of our personnel. So, it’s been tough, but hopefully we learn from it and grow from it.

Cold-weather gloves Dennis Cholowski Authentic Jersey have more padding and are thicker than the standard gloves we see wide receivers, running backs and defensive backs wear. But they still aren’t warm enough, in my opinion. And no one wants to play the game with numb fingers. The solution? Put some thin, cloth gloves (like little kids wear) under game-issued gloves. It’s not much (and that’s why guys use hand warmers, too), but it’s better than trying to catch the ball with no feeling in your fingers. The same goes for your feet. Many people know how nasty it can get when you lose feeling in your toes while shoveling the driveway. Now, imagine trying to run on a football field — in the playoffs. Take a thin pair of thermal socks and put those on underneath the game-issued socks.
The Jaguars had Derrick Morgan Womens Jersey a chance to win after Mariota lost his first fumble this season in the fourth quarter. Henry collided with Mariota on a handoff, popping the ball in the air. Yannick Ngakoue picked it up and ran 67 yards for a TD, pulling the Jaguars within 15-10 with 10:48 left.
But Byard got his second pick with 10 seconds remaining to seal the win.

Rex Burkhead, knee, and Mike Gillislee, knee, New England Patriots: Burkhead sprained his knee in Week 15 and is still working his way back in the rehab department. He did not practice again this week and, unsurprisingly, was ruled out early for Sunday. As for Gillislee, his appearance in the Week 16 game represented his first time playing since Week 8. He carried the ball six times and managed a touchdown. He also managed to injure his knee. After sitting out practice all week, Gillislee was ruled out in advance of Week 17 as well.
Andre Burakovsky Limited Jersey A couple weeks later, they dress me for the game so I assume I’m going to play, and I get zero reps. Stood on the sideline the whole game. I asked to be released again, I was told no. Then a few days later, they released me.
I was never told I would be brought back, it was: If I bring [you] back, be in shape. I cleared waivers [Monday] and they didn’t call. New England called.
Davante Adams, concussion, and Jordy Nelson, shoulder, Green Bay Packers: Adams has been away from the practice field since he sustained his second concussion of the season in Week 15. Given his newly signed deal with the Packers, there is good reason to believe that he is on the road to recovery, but he will not play again this season. His teammate, Nelson, was never the same player without Aaron Rodgers on the field. Last week, he capped off a difficult season with a shoulder injury, and he will quietly end it on the sideline with his lowest production since 2010.
The Colts gave him a steady diet of carries, and when he limped off the field early in the fourth quarter after a short run, the fans gave him a rousing ovation. He returned later and finished with 24 carries for 100 yards.
But at age 34 and in the final year of his current contract, the Colts clearly wanted to give him a fond farewell — if he’s not back in Indy next season.
Texans: Receiver DeAndre Hopkins (calf) missed the first game of his NFL career, leaving four catches short of his second 100-reception season. Houston took another hit when receiver Will Fuller V departed with a left knee injury on the Texans’ first offensive series. Fuller did not return. Linebacker Jelani Jenkins left with a hamstring injury in the third quarter and did not return.
Colts: Indy played without right tackle Denzelle Good (knee) and defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins (ankle). It lost safety Kenny Moore in the first half (concussion) and he did not return.
Those instant hand warmers we buy at gas stations are all over NFL locker rooms and sidelines during cold-weather games — and players will put them everywhere. Among the many ways they are used: Drop a couple inside your hand muff, tape them to the top of your feet (before putting on cleats), put them in your gloves and tape them inside the ear hole of the helmet. Back before players were required to wear leg pads, I saw guys put them in the thigh board slot of the game pants. They don’t last an entire game, so you have to keep grabbing new ones, but they provide a little relief.
So, if your team does need a new coach, who might it be? After canvassing league executives and others in the know — and consulting with ESPN NFL Insiders Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen — we’ve compiled a loose list of some of the most likely candidates to land head-coaching jobs this offseason.
The receivers have to play better and the Jaguars have to flip the turnover margin if they want to be more than a one-and-done team in the playoffs.
Mariota ran a season-high 10 times for 60 yards, the biggest a 13-yard scramble on third-and-5 at the 2:00 mark . Mariota also threw for 134 yards.
Derrick Henry took a screen pass from Mariota 66 yards for a TD in the second quarter, and Ryan Succop kicked three field goals.

The Titans also sacked Blake Bortles twice and forced four turnovers, two interceptions by Kevin Byard.
D.J. Reader Authentic Jersey Jay Ajayi (11:40 a.m.): Although the Eagles have said QB Nick Foles will start and Louis Williams Jersey play a majority of their first-team offense for at least a few series, they have decided to sit Ajayi from the get-go. At some point, Nate Sudfeld is expected to take over the Philadelphia huddle.
I do it for me, I do it for my family, I do it for my team and I do it for the fans. Nothing else to it. At the end of the day, they made a business decision, and so did I.
Any questions on the Jets? he asked, shortly before ending the back and forth in front of his locker.
The Jets’ offense was anemic throughout with Bryce Petty playing the entire game at quarterback after it appeared Christian Hackenberg might see his first regular-season action at some point in the finale. New York was 0 for 12 on third down and 0 for 1 in its lone trip into the red zone.
We stuck together, linebacker David Bass said. We went through adversity, ups and downs, but more downs than we wanted. We stuck together through it all.
To be clear, James is not quite the player he was at his peak because his defensive value — blocks aside — is not as high. And as he reaches his mid-30s, declining athleticism could finally become an issue for James, particularly if his improved 3-point shooting proves fluky.
Big Ben had little explanation, except to say, “That’s just the AFC North.”
We get it. There are a ton of tough players on the Steelers and Bengals who can take hits and deliver them, Roethlisberger being among the toughest.
But Monday night was a little different from the last time we saw ugliness prevail when Ryan Shazier, Giovani Bernard, Vontaze Burfict and Antonio Brown were all on the same field — in that infamous 2016 AFC wild-card battle.
After Shazier, attempting to tackle Bernard, went down early in the first quarter with a devastating back injury that required him to be taken off the field on a spine board and taken by ambulance to a local hospital, an injury that prompted prayers from players and fans well beyond those in the stadium, you would think the approach of how the teams “took it each other” in the latest heated edition of their rivalry would have changed.
Meanwhile, the Jets seem to have too much scoring talent to fall out. I think the same is true of the Islanders, though they haven’t had the goaltending to make them a more comfortably-projected playoff team.
After that it gets trickier. Right now, only four points separate the top six teams in the Metropolitan Division. It’s still anybody’s division and all six are going to jockey for five playoff spots.
Passing on a quarterback (again) may be tough for Browns fans to swallow, but getting a top offensive tackle and a playmaking defender like Fitzpatrick to go with last year’s draft should excite Cleveland.
As far as maintaining a somewhat healthy roster is concerned, the Ducks can’t catch a break. Just as Ryan Getzlaf (face) rejoins the lineup, down goes Perry with a lower-body injury, a suspected knee issue that was serious enough to warrant a trip to the hospital. The top-line winger is considered week-to-week. We could see Jakub Silfverberg slide in next to Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell for now, with either Ondrej Kase or Logan Shaw joining second-line center Adam Henrique. Keep an eye on how the top six washes out in the next couple of days.
And the last coach bagged before the end of the season was Bill Arnsparger in 1976, when the team started 0-7 on its way to 3-11. That was in the midst of the 17-year run of missing the playoffs, dating to their last NFL title game in 1963, encompassing a stretch in which they became an NFL punchline, a laughingstock, a team on which Jets fans could look down.
It wasn’t pretty for banged-up Matthew Stafford and the offense against Tampa Bay, but then it never is. They’re back to making clutch plays late in close games. Detroit is currently eighth in the NFC, but with its schedule, the opportunity to sneak into the playoffs is right there.
Sometimes a totally lame duck staff is coaching the bowl game, and sometimes most of the assistants doing the coaching are going to be retained. The goal is always to get a read on who’s checked out and who’s all in.
Joseph and his staff have lost control of all three phases. There’s no efficiency, no direction and no complementary football at all. They’re not sure what to do with personnel, and the schemes make them stale and predictably easy to burn on both sides fo the ball.
But, then again, it isn’t. Joseph, an inexperienced coach, has been overwhelmed by the team’s weaknesses, only causing them to expand.
Washington’s second opportunity didn’t go so well. Center Marcin Gortat was forced to take a contested 21-foot jump shot that missed, ending the game.
“Excuse my language, because I’m gonna say verbatim what they said,” Beal said. “They said it’s something called the … some s— rule. It’s a freak rule. To me, it didn’t really make sense because you kind of take a basket away. You go back and we get the same amount of time, but we didn’t get the same amount of time and then the ball was placed in the corner.”
“(Giants chairman) Steve (Tisch) and I spoke after yesterday’s game in Oakland and agreed to talk again today,” said Gians president John Mara. “This morning, we decided in the best interest of the franchise that we would relieve Jerry and Ben of their duties, effective immediately. This season has been incredibly disappointing for the organization and our fans, and while it would be ideal to make these kinds of decisions at the conclusion of the season, we simply felt now is the time to prepare for a fresh start.
The team would only save $5 million in 2018 by cutting him, but it would save itself another $13 million that could be used in the future. It’s probably a given that Vernon will be retained if only to avoid carrying $12 million in dead money.
Harrison is probably safe no matter who is in charge, unless someone knocks the Giants out with a good trade package. He already has $2.5 million guaranteed for next season, and cutting him would only create $2.3 million in cap space. He remains one of the best run defenders in the NFL.
Jason Pierre-Paul is already locked into his contract with no escape other than trade, so keeping Harrison and Vernon would give the Giants — on paper, at least — a solid defensive line, which should help the team even while rebuilding next season.
The Cubs are also banking on Chatwood holding the improved velocity he showed in 2017. He had Tommy John surgery in July of 2014 and missed all of 2015. That was actually his second TJ surgery, having had his first one while still in high school. According to Statcast data, his four-seam fastball velocity improved from 92.7 mph in 2016 to 94.8 in 2017, the biggest increase in the majors.
Big injuries marred their chances early; now, little injuries have hurt their chances of a respectable finish.
The defense can’t seem to put things together, and the offensive personnel keeps being misused by Dirk Koetter. Jameis Winston has become a forcing-the-ball-to-Mike-Evans turnover machine. The lack of creativity is shocking.
With that in mind, let’s take a peek at 2018 salary cap and see what might lie in store for the Giants.
Despite that fiasco with the University of Tennesssee, Schiano is gaining steam for a return to head-coaching somewhere after rebounding from his Bucs burnout. Schiano, well respected by Bill Belichick, is New Jersey all the way, having led a turnaround at Rutgers. At only 51 and having learned a lot from Tampa Bay, Schiano could be better in a second NFL go-round.
Would Harbaugh leave the Wolverines for this other high-profile job? More important, would Giants ownership welcome his weirdness? Those are two big ifs, but at this point, Harbs can’t be ruled out to rejoin the ranks of brother John.
“I was just shocked because I didn’t know he went down,” 76ers rookie Ben Simmons said. “I just spoke with him and hopefully he’ll be all right.”
Asked if Covington will play Sunday against New Orleans, Brown said, “I can’t assume anything, but it would seem like he’s a no-go.”
Dykes was 13 when his dad, then a high school coach, asked his son what he wanted for his birthday. Enamored by the Pony Express of Eric Dickerson and Craig James, Dykes’ answer was tickets to an SMU game, so the two small-town West Texas natives made the trip to Lubbock.
Texas Tech had just pulled even on a field goal with 17 seconds left when Bobby Leach took a long lateral on the kickoff and ran untouched 91 yards up the sideline for a 34-27 win during SMU’s 11-0-1 season.
“We’ve got to learn to play under pressure,” Arizona coach Rick Tocchet said. “They got that goal there to go ahead and we got it back with five minutes left under pressure. A couple of giveaways, people sinking and you’ve got to play under pressure in this league. It’s a hard league.”
Kemba Walker scored 23 points and Dwight Howard had 21 points and 12 rebounds for the injury-riddled Hornets, who have lost seven of eight.
The Lakers led by one entering the fourth but went on a run midway through the quarter to push the margin to 15.
Clarkson beat Walker on a backdoor cut for a jam, Caldwell-Pope knocked down a 3-pointer and Julius Randle scored on a layup and drew a foul. Ingram’s tip-in off his own missed layup and Clarkson’s floater increased the Lakers’ lead to 14 with four minutes remaining.
